Development of Antimicrobial Microcapsules of Saffron Petal Essential Oil by Condensation Method and Its Excellent Binding on Cotton Fibers

In recent years, textiles with antimicrobial properties have attracted more and attention. As natural agents, essential oils’ potential application value lies in their ability to provide functions. this paper, organic solvent extraction (n-hexane, petroleum ether, ethanol) steam distillation were used extract saffron petal oil (SPEO). It was found that (ethanol) had the highest rate most apparent bacteriostatic effect. SPEO-Ms prepared using composite condensation method gelatin chitosan. The microstructure, encapsulation efficiency, slow-release performance, infrared spectrum, thermal stability of evaluated. results showed microencapsulated good properties. Antimicrobial cotton fabric by impregnating microcapsules onto fibers. effects microcapsules’ concentration on whiteness, air permeability, moisture bacteriological inhibition investigated. revealed be as a new agent textiles.
